Description
Urinary pH Indicator Papers
Collect fresh urine in a container. Peel off one of the control strips with dry fingers. Immerse the control strip for one second in the urine, extract and discard the excess liquid.
The wet part will take on a different color depending on the pH of the urine. Within 2 minutes compare with the color range.
The measurement is able in part to establish in what state the acid-base balance is. The data, in any case, depends on the time in which it is measured. The pH of the urine also depends on what you ate the previous evening, on the time you dined,
from the time you went to bed, how long you slept or if you were stressed the previous day. Since a stagnation of bases prevails in the body during the night, the first morning urine is usually always acidic.
In addition, during the night, due to metabolic work, there is an increase in acids which are partly bound and partly expelled with excretion. The measurement of the second morning urine, between 10 and 12 o'clock,
however, it can give a good indication of a person's state of acidosis by taking the “normality curve” as a reference.
How to use:
Tear a map out of the block, put it under the urine stream, excluding the first stream of urine (or immerse it in the urine) and immediately check for the change in color of the paper.
Most papers are yellow-orange and remain this color if the pH value is acidic, while if it is basic, they turn blue to blue-green.
